The Perú Bold Textile Tee features chunky, rounded letters bursting with the vibrant stripe patterns of real Andean textiles — the same fabrics I have at home. I looked at those colors and painted them right into the letters, stripe by stripe.

On top of the P sits a chullo — the one my mom sent me from Peru in 2012. The day my son was born, my mom was telling Pablo the story of Túpac Amaru — the Peruvian revolutionary hero who gave everything for his people. We didn’t know the sex of the baby. Then the nurse walked in and said: “It’s a boy.” Pablo looked up and said: “His name is Beau Tupac.” Born into a story already being told.

And perched on the accent of the ú? My favorite yoga llama, the little wire-legged souvenir striking a pose. 🦙

Every stitch carries a name. Every color carries a memory. This is Perú, loud and proud.
